Hard-Wired For Success

That’s an effective term: hard-wired. Especially in this day and age when cyberspace is king, the digital atmosphere rules the world, and electronics electrify — you can’t miss a beat with the term ‘hard-wired.’ Especially when it involves our children.

Think about education for a moment. How has it changed? Sure, the kids still go to school like they always do; they even have backpacks still. But look even closer and think back to how it was when you were a kid.

Chalkboards were black, textbooks were in hardcover — usually — and you had to do all your math in your head and with paper and pencil. That was basically, in a nutshell, how it worked.

Nowadays, though, take another good look in these schools all over the nation. What do you see? Whiteboards! Markers! Calculators! Let’s go further with it and say things like, umm, computers! That’s an easy one right there.

Or how about tablet technology? iPods, iPads, Zunes, and other such devices — these aspects are the wave of the future when it comes to education. Forget the old, heavy textbooks. Try reading a school e-book on a Barnes & Noble Nook or an Amazon Kindle. Times have changed, indeed.

Moreover, you now have online schools available. Kids can actually attend class — in cyberspace! Seriously? That’s re

ally possible? Home schooling has been revolutionized in so many ways, too many to count, all because of the internet.

You can say that our kids are now “hard-wired” for success and not have it mean anything metaphorical. It’s literal. It’s here. It’s now. Join the new technological revolution.

Has Education Gotten Better?

It’s all relative, really. Back then technology wasn’t nearly as high-efficiency as it is today, but that doesn’t necessarily mean people all over the world learned a lot slower. In that same respect, although today’s technology in education reaches higher than anything in history, it doesn’t mean we as the human race learn faster. So then the question remains, and it may be a question that will never be sufficiently answered for as long as the Earth still spins around our sun: Has Education Gotten Better?

You have to get into the real root of education and realize that as time passes, so does what we learn.

Back when everyone thought the sun revolved around the world, all the parchment in schools and writing utensils pretty clearly taught that. It was the norm. How to cook was pretty typical, and when you were a resident of the Renaissance, the liberal arts were paramount.

Astronomy came into the forefront. We learned more about what exists out there in the universe. We learned that it’s not the sun that revolves around us; it’s us that revolves around the sun! Education evolves.

This is to say that our way of learning doesn’t get ‘better.’ We learned just as efficiently in history as we do today. But if you’re talking about the kind of education we receive, you can definitely say this one thing:

It has gotten better. Because what we learn ultimately expands more and more into the unknown — from the early theories of history to the better recognized mantras of the present. And it will keep getting better so long as we keep learning.

Tips to Effective Couponing

Statistics show that 95% of people like coupons, 85% of people use coupons, 65% actively look for them and 54% said they’ve used more coupons since the recession hit. Couponing is easy, but there’s a way to maximize savings using them.

Combining coupons makes them more valuable in big ways. Some stores don’t allow the use of more than one coupon, but many of them will take their own coupons plus manufacturer coupons, and if the item is on sale at the time, there’s even more savings.

In fact, holding coupons for a while, waiting for an item to go on sale can be a good habit, but it could backfire, too. Use the coupon before it expires.

Shop in one Store with Coupons from Many

Also, most grocers will accept their competitor’s coupons because they want to keep your patronage. If someone else is giving a discount, then people will want to shop where the discount is. This way, they keep a customer and sell their items. It’s well known that if a person goes into a store for something, they’re likely to buy something else, too.

Many stores will honor expired coupons, as well. Again, they would rather keep the patronage than send a customer away.

Get the lowest advertised price. If an ad for a certain item is advertised at a lower price at a store other than the one usually used, take the ad into the store and ask if they will give the lowest advertised price on it. Most of the time they’ll allow it; which will save you even more money.

Popular Costume Party Themes for Halloween

There are Halloween parties created with a theme that guests are asked to follow. For instance, last year there was a pirate office party for Halloween. All the guests dressed as pirates and wenches, and food was eaten with plastic knives. Everyone tried their hand at speaking in pirate slang, and it turned out to be a lot of fun.

People love a theme and usually they’ll stick to it, even if they don’t like the costumes. There was an ‘ugly party’ where women were required to dress as ugly men, and men were required to dress as ugly women, and everyone complained. But, at the actual party, everyone had a great time, and it was indeed ugly; the pictures are downright hilarious. Even the food was ugly – have you ever seen fruit salad with chocolate whipping cream and shredded coconut? Sounds delicious, but looks ugly.

A Well-Known Theme is Good

The vampire theme is very popular right now, especially with Halloween costumes, as vampires today wear business suits, street clothes and designer lines. Just the makeup and hair needs to be done, as well as fangs. The food is easy, too, since vampires seem to eat anything they want, these days. No longer are they restricted to blood.

Sometimes the theme is such that there’s heavy decorating to do–like the Barbie and Ken theme. Barbie is a perfect hostess (and stylish dresser with spike heels), so plates stacked with a pyramid of pastel-frosted cupcakes and cookies or finger foods in an impeccably clean home are required.

Be creative and have fun!

Covering Emergency Expenses before Pay Day

For most families, budgeting easily gets them by from paycheck to paycheck. But when an emergency strikes and you don’t have any savings, budgeting isn’t going to save you. When you need fast money before your next paycheck for things like car repairs, health bills, and other unexpected situations, a payday loan may be what you need.

A payday advance is a type of loan where the loan company pays you the amount expected on your next paycheck. Sometimes the amount varies according to the company you borrow from. These loans are very easy to obtain. They rarely require a credit check. You simply have to show proof of employment, have an active bank account, and be over 18 years old.

The money you receive from a payday loan comes to you fast, usually within 24 hours, so you can use it quickly if necessary. The application process is quick, as well. You can apply for these loans online, by taking to an agent on the phone, or by visiting a payday advance location near you. It seems too good to be true, right? Actually, payday loans are quite secure and aren’t any more dangerous than any other type of loan. There are very few scams out there.

When you require quick emergency cash, applying for a payday loan is a great idea. The money you receive will help you make it to your next paycheck. Even if you never need a payday loan, it’s nice to know they are there, just in case you ever require one.

Reducing Stress during a Move

Moving and stress are two things that seem to go hand in hand. Moving does not have to be all that stressful. Here are some tips for reducing stress during a move.

Be Organized

This is the key to reducing the most amount of stress during a move. Being organized alleviates a lot of the anxiety associated with the many things that have to be running smoothly to make a move successful.

Don’t let tasks build up. Make a list and systematically deal with things as they arise. This way, you will not be dealing with hundreds of things at once at the last minute. It is also a good idea to have back-up plans in place for services such as furniture movers. You never know who may back out at the last minute.

Ask for Help

You would be surprised at just how much stress you can reduce by simply asking for help. This could mean asking family and friends to help with packing or running errands, or it could mean asking professional for help, such as property management companies in Florida. You may have many questions and anxieties pertaining to your new property and the management company. By simply querying the company with your concerns will no doubt get the answers you need.

Know that it is natural to feel a certain level of stress while moving, but know that it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming level of stress. When the big move is all over and done with, make sure you treat yourself and your family for all the hard effort put in.
